Raft a gentle stretch of the Hvita River, a glacier river near the Golden Circle route, on this family-friendly tour. No previous rafting experience is needed.
The tour starts at Drumbo River Base at Drumboddsstadir, a short drive from Gullfoss Waterfall and about 1.5 hours from Reykjavik.
At the base, your guides give you all the gear you need. Each raft fits 8 to 10 people, so families can stay together.
The Hvita River flows from Langjokull Glacier and forms Gullfoss Waterfall. The family tour starts at Bruarhlod Canyon, a little further down the river than the standard rafting tour, where the water becomes smoother and more child-friendly. You raft about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) through calm canyons and gentle waves.
If some adults in your group want a longer trip, they can book the full River Fun Rafting tour and meet the rest of the family at Bruarhlod Canyon.
After rafting, you can warm up in the outdoor hot tubs and the sauna at the base and take a shower. Then you can continue your Golden Circle sightseeing.
