Look for big whales in Skjalfandi Bay and visit Puffin Island on this RIB speedboat tour from Husavik in North Iceland.
At the harbor in Husavik, you board a modern RIB speedboat. The boat is more spacious than most RIBs in the area. Your specialized wildlife guide explains safety on board and gives live commentary throughout the tour.
During the nesting season, from about April 15 to August 15, your first stop is Puffin Island, where you can see thousands of puffins.
After a short stop by the island, you head into the deeper waters of Skjalfandi Bay to look for whales. The RIB's speed lets it cover a larger area and search farther out, which increases your chances of finding the bigger whales, such as blue whales and humpback whales. Nature is unpredictable, though, so nothing is guaranteed.
At the end of the tour, you return to the harbor in Husavik, where your boarding pass gives you discounts at local businesses.
