Easy 1.5 Hour Glacier Hiking Tour on Solheimajokull with a Certified Guide

Solheimajökull glacier is an outlet glacier from Mýrdalsjökull and the glacier tongue located closest to the capital Reykjavík. Here you can make the first encounter with all the wonders that glaciers have to offer: amazing blue colours, shapes of ice you would never have thought to be possible and the freshest glacial water to be found anywhere on the planet. 

We will start our tour with a short walk from the meeting point towards the glacier tongue. Our guide will tell you about the geology of Sólheimajökull glacier that is so intricately interwoven with volcanism. You will first arrive at a glacial lagoon, adding to the unique charm of this breathtaking location. 

Soon it is time for you to gear up and your guide will show you how to walk on a glacier safely. It is paramount to have an experienced and qualified glacier guide to help you navigate the crevasses of this glacier tongue. Your safety is our main concern so that you can enjoy the ancient ice in confidence! You will be able to experience the way the Icelandic wind and weather have shaped the surface of the glacier tongue. You will also be able to see sinkholes (called "moulins") and other unusual shapes created by the natural elements.
