Description

Embark on an unforgettable glacier adventure in Iceland with snowmobiling, ice caving, and a guided northern lights hunt, all departing from Reykjavik. This thrilling winter experience is perfect for adventure seekers and nature lovers who want to explore Iceland's frozen landscapes and chase the aurora in a single day.

This 16-hour winter itinerary in Iceland begins with a morning pickup in Reykjavik in a comfortable vehicle. Here, you'll meet your friendly guide and start the scenic drive toward Iceland's second-largest glacier, Langjokull.

As the landscape transitions from city streets to snowy wilderness, you'll pass by lava fields and mountain ranges, building anticipation for the day's action.

Upon arrival near the glacier, you'll switch to a custom super jeep designed to handle the icy terrain. You'll receive high-quality gear at the base camp, including a helmet, insulated overalls, gloves, and a balaclava to keep you warm and safe during the journey.

Once fully equipped, your guide will lead you onto the glacier for an hour-long snowmobiling ride across pristine white landscapes.

Langjokull, which translates to "the long glacier," stretches across the Icelandic highlands and is known for its smooth, snowy surface ideal for snowmobiling. Snowmobiling here offers an exciting combination of speed, scenic views, and fresh mountain air as you ride across icy plains.

The snowmobiling route takes you deep into the heart of Langjokull, where you'll discover a natural ice cave. Step inside this frozen wonder, admiring the smooth, layered walls and glowing blue ice that have formed over centuries. The cave's quiet stillness and stunning visuals make it one of Iceland's most breathtaking natural formations.

After exploring the cave and riding back across the glacier, you'll return to base camp and warm up before heading to a local bistro for a lunch break. Though not included in the tour price, this stop allows you to recharge and enjoy authentic Icelandic cuisine in a cozy setting.

Following lunch, you'll return to Reykjavik, where you'll meet your nighttime guide for the second part of your adventure—a guided search for the northern lights. Using real-time weather and aurora forecasts, your expert guide will drive to the best possible location for visibility.

While waiting for the lights to appear, you'll stay warm with blankets and hot cocoa, enjoying the peaceful countryside away from city lights.

If the northern lights make an appearance, your guide will help you capture the moment with professional photos, offered at no extra cost.

After the experience, you'll be dropped off back in Reykjavik.

Good to know

Please be aware that the itinerary may be adjusted based on weather, road, or glacier conditions to ensure your safety, which is always our top priority.

The day begins with the snowmobiling adventure. Afterward, you'll return to Reykjavik and switch vehicles for the northern lights portion of the tour. There will be a short break between activities, typically 1–2 hours: just enough time to relax and enjoy dinner in the city.

To drive a snowmobile, a valid driver's license is required. Passengers without a license are welcome to ride as a passenger.

The standard tour price is based on two people sharing one snowmobile. If you prefer to ride solo or are traveling alone, you can upgrade to a single-rider snowmobile for an additional cost.
