Go whale watching in Isafjardardjup Fjord on this boat tour from Isafjordur, the largest town in the Westfjords of Iceland.
You board the boat at the harbor in Isafjordur, where the captain, who is experienced in finding whales, welcomes you and tells you about the whales and the area.
The tour follows the IceWhale code of conduct for whale watching, which aims for the best possible encounter for both the animals and passengers. It also works with Whale Wise, a UK-based charity of conservationists, scientists, and educators who study the relationship between whales and people.
As you leave the harbor, you sail across the fjord with views of the coastline and snow-capped mountains. Seabirds flying overhead can show where marine life is feeding below.
Humpback whales are the main species here, and in 2023, they were seen on every tour. If you're lucky, you may also see minke whales, orcas, or dolphins.
At the end of the tour, you sail back to the harbor in Isafjordur.
