Enjoy the famous Golden Circle and the magnificent Highlands of Iceland on this incredible Super Jeep tour. This excursion is a fantastic opportunity for nature lovers and photographers; you will get to see deserts, mountains, glaciers, volcanoes, hot springs, geysers, waterfalls and a national park, all within just one day.

You’ll be picked up from your accommodation in Reykjavík early, in one of our Super Jeeps. The vehicle's limited seating ensures your tour will be as personal as possible, and its off-road capabilities mean that the inaccessible Highlands open up before you. With this in mind, you will head straight to the Kjölur Route, into the mountainous centre of Iceland.

This route is only open for a few months during summer, meaning very few get the opportunity to witness its incredible surrounding wilderness. Ensure you have enough space on your camera’s memory, as you will want as many photos of this untouched, desolate place as possible. The diversity of the landscape here is unbelievable.

Kjölur is not only a place full of natural wonders but is also steeped in folklore and history. First written about in the Book of Settlements, it has long been considered a dark and mysterious place. Bandits and outlaws used to call the crags and caves home, and it is rumoured that malevolent spirits and vengeful ghosts haunt the region.

After enjoying one of Iceland’s most remote, unique regions, it is time to head to the world-famous sites of the Golden Circle. The first of these is the incredible waterfall Gullfoss. This magnificent natural treasure is awe-inspiringly powerful, and it is possible to reach a viewing platform right on the edge of the water.

Following Gullfoss, you’ll head to the Geysir Geothermal Area, a region of hot springs, mud pools, steaming vents and of course, two geysers. While the most well-known one, Geysir itself, is largely inactive these days, the other, Strokkur, erupts every 10 minutes, shooting water as high as 40 metres (131 ft). You’ll be able to see it go off several times during your time here.

On your way to the third stop on the Golden Circle, you’ll journey past the second largest glacier in Europe, Langjökull, which lies over an enormous mountain range. If it is a clear day, you can even see the country’s third largest glacier, and largest active volcano, Hofsjökull.

Finally, you will reach the last site on this tour, Þingvellir National Park, the only UNESCO World Heritage Site on Iceland’s mainland. This beautiful place is located in the rift valley between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, leading to some unique and spectacular geological features. It is also where Icelanders started the world’s longest running, still ongoing parliament.

Don’t miss this incredible day, to see Iceland’s most famous sites and its most remote reaches. Check availability by choosing a date.
