Take a thrilling super jeep ride into the colourful Highlands on this nature photography tour, capturing the volcanoes, rhyolite mountains and geothermal landscapes of Iceland. If you want to update your photo portfolio with otherworldly images while sightseeing incredible, untouched nature, this is the excursion for you.

You begin your journey by meeting up with your local guide by Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. Then, you will board your ride for the day, a specially modified super jeep capable of handling Iceland’s roughest, most mountainous terrains.

You will then begin your drive towards the one and only Hekla Volcano; labelled as the gateway to hell itself by the natives some 1,000 years ago. From Hekla, you continue onwards through Dómadalur Valley, leading you to the lakes of Frostastaðavatn and Ljótipollur.

Get out your tripods and snap photos to your heart’s content, of milky crater lakes nesting in red calderas and the endless stretch of Landmannalaugar’s rhyolite hills; covered in rising steam from geothermal activity and bordered by steep black lava fields.

Then, you jump back in the super jeep and head to the famed Highland trail Laugavegur, dotted with cascading glacier rivers and multi-coloured mountain tops. Arriving at the valleys of Reykjadalir, prepare to photograph steaming hot vents and the azure hot springs the outlaws of old used for bathing and washing.

It is then time to leave the Highland roads and head back to Route One, where you will witness the glaciers emerging out of the changing landscape. As you arrive at Emstrur Hut, you encounter the three giants of Eyjafjallajökull, Mýrdalsjökull and Tindafjallajökull. These magnificent ice sheets offer the panorama shot of your dreams.

On your way back to base camp, make sure to leave space on your memory card behind for final pictures of Þórsmörk Valley, seen from the western side of Markarfljótsgljúfur Canyon.

Don’t miss out on this close encounter with the nature of Iceland, on a scenic photography tour onboard a super jeep. Check availability by choosing a date.
