Description

Explore one of Iceland's incredible lava beaches with this exhilarating ATV quad tour. Those eager to experience some of the country's stunning scenery while on an exciting ride should book this two-hour tour now.

You will begin your journey by meeting at the base camp in Hopsnes, on the Reykjanes peninsula, where your tour guide will give you a full safety brief and instructions on operating your all-terrain vehicle. Don't worry, it's easy, and this tour is suitable for beginners - you don't need to have driven an ATV before.

You'll be provided with all the safety gear you need for the tour. Don't forget to bring warm, waterproof clothing with you as the weather in Iceland can be changeable.

Your tour will take in the old harbor area of Hopsnes, formed when the Sundhnukur craters erupted. Once a thriving fishing harbor, this area is now a popular recreational area. Here you'll find numerous hiking and biking trails. You'll also see shipwrecks that have run aground here over the years.

Here you'll find the remains of the village of Grindavik, one of the most active harbors in Iceland and has been since its settlement in around 934 AD.

Here you'll get an insight into what life in Iceland was like many years ago. The remaining buildings include a hut used to preserve fish, an ice store, salt huts, and processing shacks where meat and liver were prepared for meals.

Continuing along the coastline, you'll discover scenery that feels almost other-worldly. You'll drive along challenging but fun mountain trails with plenty of twists and turns.

The trail will lead you to Selatangar beach. Selatangar is a black sand beach that was a bustling fishing town from the middle ages to the late 19th century. At this time, its inhabitants abandoned it as fishing operations moved to other areas of the peninsula.

You'll discover old fishing huts where fishers would be stationed and the remains of the settlement. Buildings here were created using lava rocks with driftwood used for the rooftops.

In the coming years, it is thought that these remains will be destroyed because of erosion thanks to waves breaking against the shore during high tide. This ATV tour offers a unique chance to discover this area while it is still there.

Don't miss this thrilling guided ATV tour and discover Iceland's volcanic landscapes and lava beaches. Check availability now by choosing a date.
