The Snaefellsnes Peninsula is a large and truly stunning peninsula on the west side of Iceland, which holds many great natural phenomena and unique locations to visit. No visit to Iceland is truly complete without an exploration of this unique geological location, often referred to as 'Iceland in miniature'.
This tour will begin at your accommodation. You will be picked up by a private driver in a new Mercedes Benz V-class luxury car. You will then make your way to explore Snaefellsnes Peninsula. This exciting route takes you to the must-see natural sites of Iceland. Our first stop will be at the hamlet of Búðir, where we will visit its black, wooden church, built in 1703, and then head to the black beach nearby.
The village Arnarstapi is next up where you’ll see it's infamous stone bridge and its little port, once famous for its important role in Icelandic commerce. Afterwards, we travel to Hellnar for an hour-long hike on an accessible path through lava cliffs and hills.
Driving from there we will head to Londrangar rock pillars, for a truly spectacular view of lava cliffs. Next is Djúpalónssandur, a unique black-stone beach in an inlet where a scene was shot for the Game of Thrones series.
Next up is the Skardsvik beach which, unlike the previous one, is an exceptional golden beach. After that, we will head to Hellissandur, where we’ll visit Traðir guesthouse for refreshments and recuperation. After that, it is time to head to Mt. Kirkjufell, which is one of the most photographed locations in Iceland. We'll also stop at the waterfall there, for a great photo opportunity.
A view of the Snaefellsjökull glacier will be available for most of the trip, since its cone-shaped and placed on top of a massive volcano on the west end of the peninsula. It is nothing short of marvellous to look at, and though it is not among the biggest in Iceland it is massive nevertheless.
