At a farm near the gorgeous Lake Mýtvatn in the north of Iceland, you will meet your dog cart operators, also known as mushers. After being acquainted with both the people and the dogs, your musher will explain to you the basics of dog sledding (or dog carting), and how to train and work with these amazing animals.
In a group of two, you will mount the cart along with one musher. When you are all set, a team of eight to twelve Siberian Husky dogs will pull you around the beautiful and remote countryside.
You'll whizz through the beautiful, green farmland, feeling the wind on your face and the adrenaline surging through your veins. On the way, you'll have plenty of opportunities to capture amazing photos of the beautiful landscapes around Lake Mývatn, and, of course, get a few fantastic selfies with the dogs.
Your route is approximately 2,5 km and the ride itself will take about 15-20 minutes. Afterwards, you'll visit the kennel to meet the dogs and give them a cuddle. The dogs are not chained but run loose inside the enclosure. They are all friendly, highly trained, great with children, and would love a great belly rub from you as a reward for their hard work today.
