On this tour, you will be picked up in Reykjavík and driven to the stables near Lake Rauðavatn on the edge of the city. Once there, you will get to meet your horse for the day. The expert guides at the stables know their horses well, and they will pair you up with a steed that matches your character and riding skills.

The Icelandic horse arrived here on the Viking ships of the settlers over a thousand years ago. Since then, it has adapted to the harsh environment, resulting in a special breed unique to this country.

You will be provided with all the necessary riding equipment, such as a helmet, boots, gloves and warm overalls. After that, there is nothing left but to mount your steed and head on out to the wild Icelandic nature.

You’ll be riding through the idyllic and dramatic countryside near Rauðavatn Lake, travelling past black lava fields and rolling hills. All the while you’ll be accompanied by a professional, highly trained and multilingual guides who will inform you about the unique landscape and its history.

This horse tour was absolutely fantastic! We were promptly picked up at the hotel. The weather was heavy snow, but the tour was still on, much to my relief! We were given warm jumpsuits, helmets, and easy instructions on how to turn, move forward, and stop the horses. My friend and I were the only ones on the tour, so it was like we had a private one. The snow stopped and the sun came out just in time for our ride. It was incredible. The views were fantastic and the horses were so sweet and calm. Our two guides, Stephanie and Haia (I hope I am spelling her name correctly) were so lovely and wonderful. We stopped at a large lava rock formation for pictures and to take in the view. After our ride, we pet the horses and had cookies and hot chocolate. We then were dropped off at our hotel and made it just in time to get to the airport. It was the perfect way to cap off an amazing trip to Iceland. I cannot recommend this tour enough - everyone was so professional and great! The whole experience was so memorable.

Definitely recommend this tour!!! Tour guides were all so kind and so professional. The horsies were so cute and gentle! They really do make sure you are comfortable and for someone who has never ridden a horse before I thought it was really easy and the scenery was BEAUTIFUL! We went when it was around sunset time, and the views were insanely gorgeous. They also take you through lava fields which is a great spot for pictures. The provide all the gear and also have pick up locations which is great for those who may be located further away; we decided to drive and it was really easy getting there! You will get your money's worth with this tour. I truly have nothing negative to say and 100% recommend it to those who want to get to see the Icelandic horses in person. Wonderful tour :)

I 100% recommend this tour! The tour guides were very professional and friendly and the horses were absolutely gentle and wonderful to be around. They provide you with all the gear and the ride itself lasts about 90 minutes. They give you tea/coffee/biscuits at the end so it was such a cozy way to unwind after the tour. The tour itself was mesmerizing. They took us on all these scenic routes and paths and it was such a wonderful experience. Definitely a MUST for tourists!

Highly recommend this tour!! Horse riding is quite fun and it is easier for beginner to try this experience in iceland since the icelandic horse is shorter and more gentle xd. The scenary across lava field is beautiful. The two girls rode with us are kind and helpful, and do a lot to ensure our safety. If you are more experienced, you will be allowed to try more trotting with one of the girl. But if you are less confident or want it more slowly, the other girl will accompany you. The experience is fantastic!!

This was the one activity I couldn't wait to go on. It was raining the day we booked it ....but I didn't care..we were going! We were promptly picked up at our hotel. We were provided appropriate gear for the ride. The staff was helpful and informative. The ride through the countryside and lava fields was picturesque. My horse was lovely....and I was happy I figured out how to properly get my horse in the tolt. Now I want my own Icelandic horse :)

We were in Iceland for 6 days and this was our last day and final trip. We were picked up on time by a lovely girl who shook our hands and introduced herself. All communication from this firm was first class as we did experience problems with every other tour we booked but this tour was flawless and the service was excellent. The girls from the stables were lovely and patient and described everything to us in detail. I was very apprehensive about getting on a horse again as I had previously had a horrible accident on a horse riding trip in Egypt. These icelandic horse were beautiful, so well looked after with a placid nature. The trip itself through the red and black lava fields was fantastic with spectacular scenery, I had the best time ever especially when we picked up the pace. The guides on the tour were also fantastic and made sure we were comfortable at all times. I highly recommend this trip and this company, they were excellent from start to finish and I will remember this trip as one of my highlights of Iceland .....I've regained my confidence in horse riding so I may even take up riding again now that I'm back in Scotland..... 5 star trip
