Your day begins when you are picked up from Reykjavik and driven to the nearby Blue Mountains. Before entering Leidarendi, your guide will provide you with a helmet and light and brief you on safety. You’ll then descend into one of the two entrances and begin to explore this subterranean world. Stalagmites, stalactites, and bizarre basalt formations decorate the halls and corridors, and throughout most of the year, you will also get to see beautiful crystal ice sculptures.

If your group is up to the task, you’ll be able to take the full circle trail through Leidarendi, covering 900 meters. Those who have a strong sense of adventure will particularly enjoy that part of your exploration will involve a degree of clambering and crawling.
