Come along on a unique snorkelling adventure to the crystal clear waters of Silfra fissure on the #1 Tour in Reykjavik, according to TripAdvisor. Those wanting to spice up their Icelandic holiday with a once-in-a-lifetime tour should not let this opportunity pass them by.

Silfra is a fissure created by the separation of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. This remarkable crack between two tectonic plates continuously fills with glacial water that has been trickling through underground lava for approximately 30 years. This natural filtering system allows for over 100 meters of visibility and makes it among the clearest bodies of water on the planet.

You will meet your instructors at the parking lot of Silfra fissure in Þingvellir National Park.

The highly trained instructors will first dress you in an undergarment and drysuit. After suiting up, your guide will lead you through the four parts of the Silfra fissure. As the glacial water finally reaches Silfra it creates a very slight and comfortable current and all you need to do is allow yourself to float downstream. Because of the water’s clarity, this floating may feel in fact more like flying. You will spend about 30-40 minutes snorkelling through Silfra. After a short walk back to the parking lot, hot chocolate and cookies will be waiting for you.

Please be sure to bring a pair of long underwear and two pairs of thick wool socks to make sure that you stay comfortably warm in the 2°C water. Your hands and face will come into direct contact with the water, but the rest of you should stay dry. If the weather is less than favourable, no worries, this company has a “changing room” on wheels for you to take shelter in while changing.

This is truly an is an otherworldly experience; the near-freezing water, astonishing colours, and sensations of flying provide a unique environment for liquid meditation that you will never forget.

This tour is run by the 5 Star PADI Dive Center that was the first company to offer snorkelling tours of Silfra. They are the pioneers in snorkelling and diving tours in Iceland and after 20 years of experience, they have become the experts in the field. They go above and beyond to offer the highest quality experiences and they love what they do!

This tour was AMAZING! Our guide, Anna, was super nice and friendly (as were all Icelanders we met!), and went the extra mile to show us such beauty in nature. The snorkel was very relaxing, and we saw (and drank!) such beauty in nature that we simply couldn’t believe what we were seeing. And the hot chocolate at the end was a nice way to end a great trip!

Snorkeling was definitely worth the time and money. The water is extremely clear and the sights below you are gorgeous. We had Cordelia as our tour guide and she was fantastic the whole way through, I would suggest you request her as your guide if you can. The tour itself is around 30-45 minutes in the water but around 2-3 hours total, so be prepared to wear the wetsuit for a while.

Our experience was by far one of the top of our entire trip. Our tour guide Eleanora was simply amazing. Being passionate about what she does made this tour even more worthwhile. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Iceland!

This was a very special experience. My group just did the snorkeling and I would recommend it to anyone. The water is obviously freezing, but we were given a warm jumpsuit to wear under the dry suit that helped a lot. Denese was a great guide and did a wonderful job of answering our questions, teaching us some cool facts, and was also very nice and shared a bit about herself. It's worth it to get the pictures!

I took this tour in July 2017 in combination with the whale watching tour. Our guides Vicky and AJ were so sweet and knowledgeable. I absolutely loved their company and how they explained things to us. I would certainly recommend this tour to anyone who wouldn't mind seeing beautiful sights throughout the day :)

I was a bit skeptical about snorkeling in freezing water at first but it was no problem at all with the dry suit. My guide, Bart, was great and funny. He was thorough in instructions and very patient with our group. It was a great experience.

Beautiful location and an extremely easy trip throughout. From booking to pickup to end of the trip, everything went as expected. Our guide, Rudy, was amazing. He had such a wonderful sense of humor, and a deep knowledge of his subject matter, that we all enjoyed our time with him. I would highly recommend this trip and this guide to anyone looking for a chilly dip in a beautiful glacier-fed lake.

Awesome experience! Water was cold but very manageable because of the dry suit and all of the gear they give you to wear. The tour guide also takes some cool photos for you - great souvenir. At the end, they also serve you hot chocolate and cookies, which was an unexpected and nice touch to the beautiful day. Our guide Patrick also stopped on the way back to show us the filming site of the blood gate in season 4 of Game of Thrones :) He was awesome
