On this tour, you will experience the extreme temperatures that characterise Iceland.
Start your day by making your way to Silfra, in the Thingvellir National Park. At Silfra, your guide will give you a detailed briefing of the tour and the area, and you will go on an exciting snorkeling adventure in the glacial water that fills the fissure between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Get ready to be fascinated and mesmerised by the crystal clear water and its unparalleled visibility. The water is so pure that you can drink it!
Your guide will provide you with top quality gear, including a dry suit, a fleece undergarment, mask, snorkel and fins. You will be in the water for about 30 minutes, during which time you will explore the four parts of Silfra: Big Crack, the Hall, the Cathedral and the Lagoon. The water in Silfra is a steady 2-3°C. At the end of the tour, warm up with hot chocolate and cookies.
After saying goodbye to your guides at Silfra, drive on for another 25 minutes to reach the luxurious Laugarvatn Fontana Spa. Fontana Spa is a newly renovated geothermal pool where you will experience a day of pampering. A natural geothermal spring powers the Spa, warming the water naturally and providing a natural environment for bathing. Here you can relax after your snorkeling experience and enjoy being warmed up by the heat of the Earth. The experience is beneficial for both the body and the soul.
Fontana Spa has several outdoor pools, some steam rooms, a sauna and even a geothermal lake where you are welcome to take a dip. While at the Spa, enjoy a delicious buffet lunch on-site or visit the geothermal bakery and learn more about the old-fashioned way of making bread.
