Join this exciting glacier walk with an introduction to ice climbing on the breathtaking Sólheimajökull ice cap, an outlet glacier of Mýrdalsjökull. If you're a travelling daredevil looking for adventure in pristine natural surroundings, this is the tour for you.

You will meet your guide at the parking lot of the glacier, where they will prepare you for the day. You will be fitted with ice crampons, harnesses, ice axes and helmets and receive all the necessary safety briefings, before lacing up your boots and beginning your ascent.

When everyone is ready, the group will take a short hike to the roots of the glacier. There you will put the crampons on and the guide will teach you the proper use of your glacier gear. You will then step on the ice and into a wonderland of deep crevasses, narrow ridges and glistening ice sculptures.

Your knowledgeable guide will lead you through this wonderland while telling you all about the history and geology of these disappearing giants.

The guide will then take you to a wall of ice or a sinkhole suitable for ice climbing. As this is an introduction to ice climbing and no technical skills are needed, the guide will make sure everyone gets to try a climb that is suitable for their skill level.

Since this is a small group experience with a ratio of six hikers per guide, everyone has their chance to shine. Don't forget to bring your camera, as you will want to bring proof of your daringness back home with you.

After spending about three hours on the ice; hiking, climbing and enjoying the magnificent scenery, you will head back down from the glacier, take off the crampons and make your way back to the parking lot where the tour ends.

Don't miss out on this incredible experience in the land of ice and fire, walking up a glacier and trying your skills at ice climbing. Check availability by choosing a date.

Literally absolutely incredible! Elisabet was an awesome guide, and the glacier is absolutely beautiful - worth every penny! You abseil down into this wonderful blue section of the ice, and the climbing is really fun and challenging, but I have never felt more safe or in better hands. Would 100% recommend.

This was the best tour I took in Iceland. The company was so organized and knowledge. In addition to delivering what they promised the guides try to find cool things for your group to do based on the conditions of the day. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

Fantastic experience! A breathtakingly beautiful hike with a thrilling climb along the side of the glacier. Our guide, Bergur Sig, was awesome. He was personable, great with kids, and provided a lot of great information about the glacier. Highly recommended.

We had a great time on this tour. We met at the Solheimajokull parking lot. Our guide was Hungarian (not Icelandic) but he was very friendly and still very knowledgeable about Iceland and ice climbing. The weather was amazing and we took frequent breaks on our trek up to the climbing wall to take in the views and for photo ops. Our tour guide told us Icelandic ghost stories which was fun. Overall we really enjoyed our experience. They give you boots, crampons, helmet, and ice axe. The boots are a bit uncomfortable with an extremely flat bottom (I even have flat feet), but the crampons fit the shoes well and they help fit them for you. Everyone we encountered was very nice. We only had three people on the tour with us with one guide. We had a great time, I just wish there was more time to climb. We each ascended the wall 3 times, but it was exhausting so I'm not sure how many more times we would have been able to go. We got lucky and another tour only came as we were finishing up, but I can imagine it would not be as fun if it were to be more crowded on a busy day. The glacier and park are beautiful. They have a bathroom you can use for free if you've reserved your tour and they also have tea/coffee. Overall a great day and a great tour!
