South Coast Waterfalls and Solheimajokull Glacier Hiking Tour | Medium Difficulty

Based on 19 traveller reviews

Join this tour to go on a glacier hike and see the south coast of Iceland. Given clear weather, you may get a fine view of two of Iceland's most famous volcanoes, Hekla and Eyjafjallajokull.

At the foothills of Eyjafjallajokull you may also be able to glimpse the Westman Islands. You'll be hiking on Sólheimajökull glacier, a glacier tongue that crawls down from the mighty Mýrdalsjökull glacier. You'll be able to get up close and personal to the majestic ice sculptures and formations on an easy walk over this disappearing giant, and get information about the Icelandic glaciers and the threat towards them from your experienced guide. You'll be provided with crampons to attach to your hiking boots so you'll get a good grip on the icy surface, making the hike much more manageable.

After the hike you'll stop by the beautiful Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls on the way back.

It's our first time to visit Iceland and go glacier hiking. Those hiking guides were helpful and teach you how to put all gears on your body. Also, the guide will introduce how the glacier forms and the changes happens in these few months & years.

Great tour. Our guide on the glacier hike, Kiddy, was fantastic. Helpful, friendly and informative. Our group had six people of varying age and physical condition, and Kiddy made it work for all of us. The crampons make it easy to walk over the ice, and the views and the overall experience were memorable. We were soaked from a winter rain by day's end, but Kiddy and the tour company kept tabs on the weather to make sure that the conditions remained safe. The waterfalls, especially during winter, were almost afterthoughts, given the dusk and our rain-soaked jackets. But they afforded a chance to get much closer to the waterfall than, say, at Gullfoss (which we saw on another tour) or Niagara Falls. There is a stop for food on the way to the glacier; it's basically a 7/Eleven or Wawa type of place, with perhaps a few more hot offerings.

Our tour guide was kind, patient and funny. She had a wealth of knowledge about the glacier. The waterfalls were more "explore by yourself". Had a great time!

The glacier hiking was an amazing experience. The tour guide was very professional and very knowledgable. Learn so much about the glacier while walking through the different parts of the glacier.

Great tour, we were able to do everything that was written in description of the tour, amazing views of the volcanoes and waterfalls, the basalt formations on the Black beach are formidable. I never dreamed I would see a real glacier let alone hike on one. Both guides ( on the tour and on the glacier) were friendly and kind and very informative.

amazing, amazing... wonderful landscapes!! :)

This was perfect! We had the best day! The glacier hike itself was simply amazing. Our guide was professional, funny and friendly! It was the best day! The waterfalls were great, but definitely not the highlight. If we didn't have the hike, it wouldn't have been as wonderful. The beach was a wonderful place, but super cold with crazy wind and sleet in my face doesn't make for a pleasant experience:) I'd definitely recommend this tour!!

I initially ran into a bit of an issue with the tour. My trip was cancelled by accident by the company but I am happy with how the mistake was handled. I was offered another day and a partial refund because the Glacier Tour was booked. I went on the South Coast Waterfall tour and had an amazing time! My tour guide was Helga and she was sweet and funny. The views of the waterfalls and the black sand beach were amazing. I would recommend the tour to others.

The tour guide is very friendly and informative and considerate. The tour is very well designed with sufficient toilet break, and to make the most of a full day by seeing a lot of things.

Fantastic tour. It is highly recommended. We had only a few days in Iceland, and we wanted to see the maximum. So we have choosen two tours, one was this south coast tour. It is a full day program, very well designed, packed with a bit if adventureous glacier hiking. We had a perfect day. Our guides ( both on the tour and on the hiking part) were very professionals. It was a great experience, that gave us lots of nice memories about Iceland. Congrats to the agency, everything was very well organized! Thank you for the great tour! Agi& Vera

It was an amazing and memorable tour. I hadn't realized that the glacier wasn't flat, so there was a it of hiking involved but the guide was very helpful and knowledgable.

This tour is amazing. First time for glacier hiking. The money was worth it :)

Beside the weather (climbing the glacier was not possible - just walking to the beginning of it) a nice tour with a lot of different places to experience. We had also an awesome tourguide with a lot of humour!

This tour was was simply amazing. We've had a great time with a great and gentil tourguide who took his time to explain everything that was necessary. Climbing the glacier was exciting, since we've never done it before. Definetely a must do!
