Enjoy the splendors of Iceland's South Coast with this fantastic, privately-guided sightseeing tour exploring waterfalls, black sand beaches, and incredible rock formations. This tour is perfect for those visitors looking to see Iceland's major southern attractions but are hoping to skip out on larger tour groups.
Your day's adventure will begin by being picked up from your accommodation in Reykjavík, then whisked southward along Road 1 (The Ring Road) on your way to the first destination, Seljalandsfoss. This narrow, 60-meter high feature is a rare example of an Icelandic waterfall that can be walked behind. This multitude of perspectives truly makes Seljalandsfoss one of the most exciting attractions on the South Coast.
A little further up the road, you will stumble across one of Iceland's larger waterfalls, Skógafoss. This domineering curtain of cascading water creates some real drama; visitors to this attraction can walk right up to the point where the water smashes into the rock pool below, offering up the chance for some epic photos.
After that, you will make a stop by the small peninsula, Dyrhólaey. The view from Dyrhólaey is captivating: to the north, one can see the mighty Mýrdalsjökull glacier, while to the east, the black lava columns of the Reynisdrangar protrude from the sea.
On the way back, you will visit the famed black-sand beach, Reynisfjara, known for its dark sand, dangerous undercurrents, and fascinating basalt columns, naturally formed in the hillside to create what resembles a strange and fantastical fortress. When your time at the beach is over, you will make the return journey back to your accommodation in the city.
