Description

Climb the Solheimajokull glacier and witness the amazing South Coast of Iceland on this immersive glacier hiking tour. This excursion should not be missed by those seeking adventure at any time of the year.

You will be picked up from Reykjavik for this tour in the morning and be driven south along the Ring Road towards your glacier adventure. We will make a short stop on the way to the glacier to let you buy refreshments before taking you to the Solheimajokull glacier, where you will meet your glacier guide.

Your guide will get you and your group ready, who will fit you with your crampons, harness, and helmet, and go over the safety briefing of glacier hiking; once complete, we will begin the ascent. Following them slowly and carefully, you will be able to marvel at the views of the South Coast and the vividly colored ice with its crevasses, caves, and ridges.

You will learn all about the glaciers as you travel and will have plenty of opportunities for photographs. If there are any particularly unusual features present on the ice cap, your guide will be sure to lead you there.

You then return to the glacier base camp, where you have time to have lunch before the bus takes you back towards Reykjavik while stopping at some of Iceland's famous waterfalls.

The first is the Skógafoss waterfall, an almost 60-meter tall waterfall that shows its width and power. Even in winter, when the flow is at its lowest, it is still mightily impressive.

The second waterfall on our return leg of the tour is Seljalandsfoss, a waterfall many know of because of its cave; this depression in the 60-meter tall cliff it falls from means that the cascade can be fully encircled in summer. While the path is closed for safety in winter, seeing these beautiful falls tumble into a snowy field is mesmerizing.

After a full day of adventures, you will head back to Reykjavík.
