10-Hour Golden Circle Super Jeep Tour with Snowmobiling & Transfer from Reykjavik
Description
Summary
Description
Revitalise your spirits by visiting the prime attractions of South Iceland, on this Super Jeep excursion of the Golden Circle with an added snowmobile adventure. This tour is tailor-made for those who want to experience the best of Iceland, or for anyone with only a limited amount of time to enjoy the quintessential sights of the land of ice and fire.
Your adventure begins with a pickup in Reykjavík City, and from there, you’ll be whisked away to the first attraction of the Golden Circle, Þingvellir National Park. The park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the historical location of Iceland’s first parliament, founded in the 10th Century by Viking Chieftains to allow all the land’s citizens to participate in government rule.
Þingvellir is furthermore an actual rift valley, located directly along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. As you walk through the stunning gorge and rugged lava fields, know that you are strolling between the two different continents of North America and Eurasia.
Next up is the geothermal valley Haukadalur, home to the world-famous geysers Geysir and Strokkur. As heat bubbles up from the earth’s core it explodes to the surface via vents, fumaroles and boiling mud pots. Strokkur is incredibly active today, exploding every few minutes with blasts of water reaching heights of sometimes 40 metres (131 feet).
The last stop of the Golden Circle route is the golden waterfall Gullfoss, where meltwater from Iceland’s largest glacier Vatnajökull cascades down two-tiered falls into a great canyon. Prepare to feel the force of the falls beneath your feet as you traverse the path above the waterfall with the spray hitting your face.
Finally, you’ll cap off your day of sightseeing with a spin around the snow-capped Langjökull Glacier on a zippy snowmobile. You’ll take in the view from the top of the world, all wrapped in pristine snow and surrounded by timeless mountains.
Reserve your spot now on this popular day trip to Iceland’s most vital attractions, and top it off with an adrenaline-pumping snowmobile race across the surface of a glacier. Check availability by choosing a date.
