Unforgettable 10 Hour Super Jeep Tour of Thorsmork Valley with Transfer from Reykjavik
Description
Summary
Description
Join us to one of Iceland's most wild and beautiful regions; Þórsmörk Valley, located in the southern highlands. This is the perfect tour opportunity for those travellers looking to experience Iceland's most hidden and inaccessible spots.
Hidden between mountains and glaciers, Þórsmörk has been preserved and unspoiled for centuries. The valley is named after the Norse God of Thunder, Thor; the landscape more than meets the drama required for such a label, encompassing a variety of steep mountain slopes, frozen glacier tongues, roaring rivers, volcanic plateaus, lush hillsides and dark, cragged caves. It is as if the Gods had sculpted this place themselves.
Now you have the chance to experience this natural oasis, only accessible in the summer months, and only to specifically designed vehicles; aka; the Super-Jeep. This is due to the area's difficult terrain and numerous river crossings. The area is especially popular amongst nature enthusiasts, landscape photographers and intrepid hikers.
Before diving into the green heart of Þórsmörk, your super-jeep will first be making a stop at the iconic waterfall, Seljandsfoss, one of the treasures of Iceland's South Coast. Seljandsfoss is a rare example of a waterfall in Iceland where it is possible to walk directly behind the cascading water, providing an entirely new perspective on this amazing natural feature.
The next stop on your adventure is the everchanging glacier tongue, Gígjökull, originating from the infamous Eyjafjallajökull volcano. Observers of current affairs will recognise this volcano as the one which erupted in 2010, severely disrupting air travel across mainland Europe. Whilst in the Þórsmörk region, you will also visit a large, natural gorge where it is possible to actually enter the mountainside.
So what's the delay? Don't miss out on all of the attractions in Þórsmörk, the incredible valley of Thor, as well as those along the gorgeous South Coast. Check availability by choosing a date.
