Guided 2.5-Hour Whale Watching Boat Trip in North Iceland from Arskogssandur

You sail on a traditional oak boat into the calm waters of Eyjafjordur Fjord, looking for whales and seabirds with an expert crew.

Humpback whales spend the summer in Eyjafjordur Fjord and are often seen on the tour. Minke whales, white-beaked dolphins, and harbor porpoises are also seen regularly. Humpback whales were seen on every tour last year, but this is wild nature, so sightings are never guaranteed.

Warm overalls, and raincoats if needed, are provided for the trip. On the way back to the harbor, you get hot chocolate and cinnamon cookies while your guide tells you more about the whales and shares stories from the fjord.

Arskogssandur Village is on the western shore of Eyjafjordur Fjord, with views of the surrounding mountains. The village has beer baths with an outdoor wooden hot tub and a sauna, and a seaside bistro. From the harbor, you can also take the 15-minute ferry to Hrisey Island, where you can walk around the small harbor village, visit the shark museum, or go hiking and bird-watching.
