Look for whales in Faxafloi Bay on this family-friendly morning boat tour from Reykjavik's Old Harbor.
The tour starts at the ticket office at Geirsgata 11 in Reykjavik's Old Harbor, where you meet your English-speaking guide and the rest of the group. Then you board the boat and set sail into Faxafloi Bay.
The bay is home to minke whales, humpback whales, dolphins, and harbor porpoises. Killer whales, also known as orcas, are sometimes seen too, though sightings are rare.
The crew searches for whales throughout the trip.
Along the way, you have views of the mountains and islands around Reykjavik, and you can watch for the many seabirds in the area. Your guide tells you about whale behavior and marine life.
You can stay out on deck or head inside to the heated indoor cabin, and there's a bar on board.
At the end of the tour, you return to the Old Harbor in downtown Reykjavik.
