Description
See waterfalls, glaciers, volcanoes, and Reynisfjara Beach on this small-group minibus day tour of Iceland's South Coast from Reykjavik.
You're picked up from your hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavik in the morning. Groups have a maximum of 19 people, and your guide tells you about Icelandic culture, nature, and history along the way.
The first stops are two of South Iceland's best-known waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss Waterfall and Skogafoss Waterfall, one of the most powerful waterfalls in Iceland.
In summer, a path lets you walk behind Seljalandsfoss Waterfall and look out through the falling water at the green fields and cliffs around it.
Then you continue to Reynisfjara Beach, a black sand beach near Vik Village, known for its birdlife and the basalt columns in its cliffs. In summer, you may see puffins around the cliffs.
Offshore stand the Reynisdrangar Sea Stacks, which folklore says are trolls turned to stone by daylight.
On the drive, you see Solheimajokull Glacier and Eyjafjallajokull Volcano, whose 2010 eruption halted air traffic across Europe for days.
The minibus has free Wi-Fi. You get to taste traditional Icelandic snacks, and the tour stops for lunch.
