Your journey begins at the Solheimajokull parking lot, located on Iceland’s South Coast. Just a short detour from the Ring Road, this glacier activity is easy to combine with visits to other nearby highlights like the Skogafoss waterfall and is perfect for those on a self-drive tour.
At the parking lot, your friendly, certified glacier guide awaits. After a short introduction to the day ahead, you’ll set off on a scenic walk across flat, rocky terrain toward the glacier’s edge.
The pace is easygoing to moderate, giving plenty of time to enjoy the surrounding landscapes and ask questions as your guide shares insights into the region’s history and geology. All necessary glacier gear, like crampons, helmets, and harnesses, will also be provided.
