The Húsavík Whale Museum is a non-profit organisation, founded in 1997. The aim of the museum is to convey information about whales, marine ecology and the interaction of whales and humans through history in an entertaining and interesting way. Focus on collaboration and working with educational institutions at home and overseas strengthens the foundation of the museum. The museum provides 1.600 m2 for the display of numerous different whale skeletons and fascinating facts about whales. The Whale Museum, along with the University of Iceland’s Research Center forms the educational component to the whale watching trips, enjoyed in Húsavík during the majority of the year.

Húsavík Whale Museum in Iceland 

In the center of the the old fishing town of Húsavík, there's a large white and grey building that connects the main street and the harbour.  Approximately 100 thousand visitors depart to the Skjálfandi Bay every year with the goal of meeting whales in their feeding area.
