
Kerið crater and Nykurinn - the Water-kelpie in South Iceland
Kerið in Grímsnes is quite an impressive lake-filled oval-shaped volcanic crater, formed in a volcanic eruption some 6,500 years ago. Folklore is connected to the lake in the crater which tells us about a water kelpie living in the lake. In this travel-blog I am going to tell you a little bit about the craters, the water kelpie, and the settlers of this area in South Iceland.
