My wife and I had such a wonderful private super jeep tour with Guffi to Langisjór lake, Sveinstindur peak, and Eldgjá canyon. As a very experienced local tour guide, Guffi simply exceeded all our expectations. He continually monitored and communicated weather conditions and potential impacts on our tour, had excellent equipment (a very comfortable modified Toyota Land Cruiser), and prioritized safety. He met our different preferences, touring with my wife at Langisjór as I climbed Sveinstindur to enjoy epic views of the lake, volcanic craters and valleys, and the ice cap of Vatnajökull (we were most fortunate with weather). On our way to Eldgjá and Ófærufoss (which were also stunning), he used track roads around a lake (actually driving through the shoreline) and crossed several rivers to show us some amazing less-seen landscapes of the highlands. Stunning scenery and amazing variety every day, friendly coordinators and experienced guides, and premium accommodations considering the remoteness. Trail isn't wildly far from other sights but for some reason is far less popular — saw almost nobody else for over 24 hours. Away from the streams it was possible to sit on the soft moss and hear nothing but absolute silence. No scrambling or particularly risky trails. Note that while the trek is supported, you still have to carry your day pack and yourself across the distance, and while the days aren't grueling, this is also not an easy trip. Conditions can be hot or cold or rainy or foggy, and possibly all those in the same day. Unpredictable fog may rob you of some of the (many) viewpoints. Don't take this as your first hiking trip ever, do wear well-broken-in hiking boots.
