Ægir 101 Taproom
Ægir is a craft brewery situated in the Grandi district in Reykjavík. Ægir opened its doors in 2017 and has always aimed at making a fresh, high-quality product, made with the best ingredients possible. Ægir is a growing operation, and has opened two taprooms in the past two years, Ægir 101 in Reykjavik and Ægir 220 in Hafnafjordur.
The brewery takes its name from Ægir, the Norse god of the sea and a famed brewer in mythology, who was known for hosting grand feasts for the gods. Celebrating traditional folk music and older styles of Nordic music, it hosts Vikivaki dance evenings and co-singing events with the ever-active folk ballad community.
Beyond its beverages, Ægir 101 has quickly become a favorite in the heart of Reykjavik. The taproom’s warm, welcoming atmosphere pairs perfectly with its unique offerings, like the fermented shark—a daring Icelandic delicacy that adventurous patrons can pair with a pint. Whether you’re there for a cold beer, a hearty bowl of meat soup, or an evening of song and dance, Ægir 101 invites you to embrace the spirit of Iceland with every visit.
As they say in Old Icelandic: Et, drekk og ver glaðr! (Eat, drink and be happy!)
