Viking Cafe
Situated on the beautiful Stokksnes peninsula, this family-run café offers beautiful views of the iconic Vestrahorn mountain, often called the “Batman Mountain” for its dramatic, cinematic peaks. Oh, and the black sand beaches? Pure Icelandic perfection.
Viking Cafe is where traditional Icelandic flavors meet homey comfort. Their famous Icelandic waffles, or vaffla, are a must-try. Crispy outside, soft inside, and topped with whipped cream and rhubarb jam, they’re like a warm hug on a plate.
Pair that with freshly brewed coffee, rich hot chocolate, or even a local beer for the ultimate treat. They also whip up tasty grilled paninis, decadent cakes, and pastries that make saying no practically impossible.
If you can't get enough of the views, you can stay overnight! The guesthouse offers comfy rooms with a side of epic scenery. You can enjoy a breakfast buffet with fresh bread, pastries, fruit, yogurt, cheese, ham, and eggs, all served in a rustic dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows.
Right next to the café, you’ll find a replica Viking village, originally built as a film set. Wander through and imagine life as a Viking (minus the plundering).
It’s a quirky, fun experience that adds a splash of history to your visit. Plus, the surrounding black sand dunes and rugged coastline make it a photographer’s dream.
The Viking Cafe is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM. There’s a small admission fee (1.000 ISK) to explore the Stokksnes peninsula, including the Viking village and black sand beaches, but kids under 16 get in free. Totally worth it for the unbeatable views and unique vibes.
Whether you’re here for the waffles, the views, or the Viking vibes, the Viking Cafe is a slice of Icelandic magic you won’t want to miss.
