Scenic 8-Hour Horse Riding & Whale Watching Day Tour with Transfer from Reykjavik
Description
Summary
Description
Meet the unique wildlife of Iceland in two completely different ways with this day tour from Reykjavik, where you'll ride a beautiful Icelandic horse in the morning and take a fascinating whale watching tour in the afternoon. This combo tour should appeal to anyone passionate about wildlife, nature, and adventure.
Your day will start when you are picked up from Reykjavik and taken to the farm Vellir in Southwest Iceland for the riding component of this tour. You will meet your guide here, introducing you to the safety equipment and protocols before showing you your steed for the morning.
Though Icelandic horses appear smaller than regular breeds at first sight, you will soon notice that they are quite special. They are comparatively more curious, social, and intelligent.
If horseback riding is new to you, your guides will allow you to get comfortable before the tour starts properly and will start the pace slowly. If you are more experienced, you will have an opportunity to gallop around during the excursion.
You will ride for up to two hours through the beautiful countryside with views of dramatic mountains, valleys, and the South Coast. Once you return to the farm, you will enjoy a light lunch before being driven back to Reykjavik.
You'll arrive at Reykjavik's Old Harbor in time for the early afternoon departure of the whale watching boat. As it escorts you into Faxafloi bay, the guide on board will tell you all about the scenery unfolding around you.
Not only will you be able to see the capital's skyline, but if the weather is clear, you will see the volcanic Reykjanes Peninsula, the beautiful Hvalfjordur fjord, and the silhouette of the magnificent Snaefellsnes Peninsula.
Many whale and dolphin species call Faxafloi bay home, so you can hope to see minke whales, humpback whales, white-beaked dolphins, and harbor porpoises. You may even see orcas, fin, and blue whales if you are particularly fortunate.
Between whale sightings, you can admire the seabirds around you or head to the comfortable cabin below to warm up with a hot drink or something stronger. You can also purchase snacks and read about the whales of Iceland below the deck.
If you do not see any whales on your trip, you can redeem another ticket for free at your next available schedule for another shot.
After three hours, hopefully filled with multiple sightings, you will be taken back to the Old Harbor in time for any late afternoon and evening plans you have made. You can also request a drop-off to your hotel or a desired location in the city for a cheap cost.
Take advantage of this opportunity to see the most incredible animals in Iceland, from majestic horses to the gentle giants of the sea. Check availability now by choosing a date.
