Get ready to rev up your engines and race through Iceland’s jaw-dropping landscapes on this exciting ATV tour from Reykjavik. Those looking for a fun-filled way to fill up their time in the city need to look no further.
You can choose to be picked up in the capital and driven to the base camp, where your adventure begins, or meet your experienced guides on location. Once there, you'll be introduced to your ATV, which is very easy to handle. No prior experience is required for this activity. In order to drive, you need to have a driver’s license with you, but passengers can be as young as 6 and still enjoy the adventure.
All equipment, which includes overalls, gloves, and helmets are provided. It is still recommended to bring warm clothing with you to ensure your journey is comfortable throughout, and all your focus can be on the surrounding nature and excitement of the ride.
After a quick briefing, you will set out along the edges of Lake Hafravatn, where the views are stunning year-round. In summer, the lake comes alive with birds and lush flora, while in winter it is coated in gleaming ice.
You will then hike up Reykjavik Peak to the summit, where you’ll be treated to panoramic views of Faxafloi Bay, Reykjavik, and the surrounding area in clear weather. You’ll have an opportunity to pull over and take some photos before setting off on an exciting adventure back down.
If both you and your passenger are drivers, you can also use this opportunity to switch seats, allowing you to enjoy the thrill of operating an ATV and the joy of marvelling at the surrounding nature.
All in all, the journey will last approximately an hour. Once you return to the base camp, you will be driven back to the capital city if you elected for a pickup during the booking process. The whole length of the tour from pickup to drop off is not likely to last longer than three hours, meaning you’ll have plenty of time to pack other activities into your day.
