Excellent 3 Hour Horse Ride & Hot Springs Tour of Gufudalur Valley
Description
Summary
Description
Grab the reins with both hands for this incredible 3-hour horse riding tour through the steaming geothermal landscapes of Iceland. This tour is suitable for both beginner and experienced riders, as well as all those looking to explore Iceland from a truly unique perspective.
You will be picked up in the morning and driven a short distance east of Reykjavík. At the stables, you will begin your tour with an easy introduction to horse riding, ranging from how to correctly use the reins to how to slow and speed up your steed.
Your knowledgeable, friendly and experienced horse riding guide will also be quick to share with you their first-hand knowledge of this unique horse breed, as well as provide a little background colour on the surroundings in which you will explore.
Horse riding in Iceland is unique not only because of the country’s fantastic natural scenery but because of the horse itself. Icelandic horses are a particularly special breed, capable of five gaits and able to withstand outside temperatures at which much larger horses would cower.
On the tour, you will ride gorgeous trails along the picturesque slopes of Mt. Reykjafjall, as well as through a dense green forest (a rarity in Iceland). Following that, you will trot past numerous steaming hot-springs in the geothermal area of Gufudalur Valley, located just above the town of Hveragerði. Along these hilly, volcanic paths, riders will observe sweeping panoramas of green plateaus and even the mighty volcano, Hengill.
During the winter season, given the length of this tour, you will be taking a break at local stables to learn more about the area and indulge in some light refreshments and snacks. When everybody is ready, you will make a pleasant return journey back to where you started, before boarding a bus heading to Reykjavík.
So don't wait! Gallop your way onto this tour, and you too can experience Iceland’s hot springs, geothermal valleys, forests and plateaus, all from atop your own Icelandic horse. Check availability by choosing a date.
