Description

See the Golden Circle, Langjokull Glacier, the South Coast, and Katla Ice Cave on this private 4-day package by super jeep or monster truck, with private airport transfers and the ice cave entrance fee included.

The tour is just for you and your group, and you can change the schedule as you like.

On the first day, your driver meets you in the arrivals hall at Keflavik International Airport and takes you in a private vehicle to your accommodation in Reykjavik at a time of your choosing.

On the second day, you're picked up at your accommodation for the Golden Circle. The first stop is Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Iceland's parliament was founded over 1,000 years ago, and where the earth is slowly pulling apart between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

Next, you visit the Geysir Geothermal Area in Haukadalur Valley, with geysers, hot springs, and steam vents. Strokkur Geyser, one of the largest and most powerful geysers, erupts every 4 to 16 minutes.

The last Golden Circle stop is Gullfoss Waterfall, which drops in two stages into a deep gorge. You then have a lunch break at the Gullfoss cafe.

After lunch, you head off-road into the highlands around Langjokull Glacier, the second-largest ice cap in Iceland. You can add a snowmobile tour on the glacier for an extra fee. After the off-road ride, you stop at Faxi Waterfall, a small waterfall, before driving back to Reykjavik.

On the third day, you travel along the South Coast to Katla Ice Cave, where you see black, white, and blue ice that is over 800 years old and tall ice walls shaped by glacial water.

The day also includes Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, where a path lets you walk behind the falls, and Skogafoss Waterfall. You walk and drive on black-sand beaches, see the bird cliffs around the coastal village of Vik, and see Eyjafjallajokull Glacier. On the way back, you drive past Hveragerdi, a town named after its geothermal activity.

On the last day, your driver picks you up at your accommodation and takes you to Keflavik International Airport. You can add a Blue Lagoon stop on your arrival or departure day for an extra fee.

Daily itinerary

Day 1

Day 1 - Arrival in Iceland

Welcome to Iceland! Today, you'll arrive in the country on the first day of your four-day guided tour and can explore Reykjavik.

Once you've collected your luggage, head outside the airport, where your transfer will be waiting to take you to your accommodation in Reykjavik, the world's northernmost capital.

You'll drive through the Reykjanes peninsula on the way, known for its unique volcanic landscapes. You'll see vast lava fields and pass by the steaming Gunnuhver geothermal area and the colorful sulfur springs of Krysuvik. You'll also see rugged cliffs and the North Atlantic Ocean.

You can also stop at the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa for an additional cost. In a lava field on the Reykjanes Peninsula, the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa boasts striking azure-blue mineral-rich waters heated by underground geothermal activity.

The rejuvenating, milky-blue waters are renowned for their skin-soothing properties owing to their high silica and mineral content. You can relax in the warm, mineral-rich pools set against rugged lava formations and steam rising from the earth.

The spa also offers a range of amenities, from silica mud masks to a swim-up bar, providing a unique and unforgettable wellness experience amidst Iceland's stunning geological landscapes. It's the perfect spot to relax after a long flight.

Depending on the time of your flight, you may also have time to explore Reykjavik on your first day. Reykjavik offers a wealth of activities to suit every traveler's interests.

Explore the city's rich culture and history by visiting landmarks like the Hallgrimskirkja church, an iconic church with panoramic views from its tower, or the National Museum of Iceland, showcasing the country's heritage. Stroll along the charming streets of the Old Town, filled with colorful buildings and quaint shops.

Night owls can enjoy the city's lively nightlife scene with bars, clubs, and live music venues. Reykjavik's culinary scene is also a delight, offering traditional Icelandic dishes and international cuisine. Get plenty of sleep at your accommodation in the city tonight and be ready for your adventures tomorrow.

Day 2

Day 2 - Golden Circle and Langjokull Glacier

On the second day of your tour of Iceland, you'll visit the Golden Circle sightseeing route and the Langjokull glacier.

The first stop is the Thingvellir National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a remarkable natural and historical treasure in Iceland. Located on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, it showcases the dramatic geological significance of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, which are slowly drifting apart.

Visitors can see the Silfra fissure, where crystal-clear glacial waters fill the gap between these plates. Beyond its geological wonders, Thingvellir National Park is historically significant as the site of Iceland's ancient Althingi, one of the world's oldest parliaments, established in 930 AD.

The park's stunning landscapes include dramatic rift valleys, lush forests, and the picturesque Thingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.

Next up is the Geysir geothermal area in the Haukadalur valley. The great Geysir, which gives all other geysers their name, is no longer active, but the Strokkur geyser erupts every 5-10 minutes, so you'll see this during your visit.

The final stop on the Golden Circle sightseeing route is the Gullfoss waterfall. Here, the Hvita river dramatically cascades in two stages, plunging into a deep, rugged canyon with a thunderous roar. Gullfoss gets its name from the golden colors that often shimmer in its glacial waters when sunlight touches the misty spray.

You'll stop for lunch at Gullfoss Cafe, where you can try some Icelandic specialties. Then, it's time to take the super jeep off-road as you head into the rough terrain of the Icelandic Highlands to go to the Langjokull glacier.

Langjokull glacier, translated as "Long Glacier," is the second-largest glacier in Iceland, covering an expansive area of approximately 368 square miles (about 953 square kilometers).

Here, you can also take an optional snowmobile excursion at an additional cost or enjoy the super jeep tour.

The last stop of the day is at Faxi waterfall, a charming, lesser-known waterfall. Once you've enjoyed this, your driver will return you to your Reykjavik accommodation for a good night's rest.

Day 3

Day 3 - South Coast & Katla Ice Cave

On the third day of your guided tour in Iceland, you'll discover the sights of the South Coast, including the Seljalandsfoss waterfall, the coastal village of Vik, and a stunning ice cave beneath the Katla volcano.

The first stop today is the magical Katla ice cave. You'll venture into the glacier's heart through intricate tunnels of brilliant blue ice sculpted by nature's forces. The ice cave's translucent walls create an ethereal atmosphere, and the light in the cave is truly breathtaking.

Spending time in a glacial ice cave is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The glaciers shift and change constantly, melting and refreezing each year. This means that no trip to an ice cave is the same. Your expert guide will choose one that's mesmerizing to see and safe to enter. Don't miss this fantastic chance to visit a glacial ice cave.

Next, you'll visit Seljalandsfoss waterfall, known for its unique features. Visitors can walk behind the cascading water curtain. Seljalandsfoss plummets from a 197-foot (roughly 60-meter) height, creating an incredible natural spectacle.

Surrounded by lush greenery, the waterfall becomes even more enchanting during summer when wildflowers bloom.

Skogafoss waterfall is another stop on the itinerary. It's as tall as the Seljalandsfoss waterfall but much broader. It plunges dramatically from the Skogar river down a cliff of dark volcanic rock. The resulting mist often forms vibrant rainbows, creating a surreal atmosphere.

Visitors can climb a staircase to view the falls from above, offering unforgettable vistas of the surrounding lush greenery and expansive landscapes.

Iceland's South Coast is known for its beautiful black-sand beaches. You'll get to walk on some of them today. You'll see the dramatic cliffs surrounding them and spot some rich birdlife.

The last stop of the day is the town of Hveragerdi. Hveragerdi is a charming town in South Iceland, often dubbed the "Hot Spring Capital of the World" due to its abundant geothermal activity.

Located close to the Golden Circle route you explored yesterday, Hveragerdi is nestled in a captivating landscape of steaming hot springs, bubbling mud pots, and dramatic geysers. Its unique geothermal resources are harnessed for heating homes and greenhouses, allowing the cultivation of vegetables and flowers year-round.

After the tour, your driver will take you back to your accommodation in Reykjavik.

Day 4 - Departure from Iceland

On the fourth and final day of your guided tour in Iceland, it's time to head home.

If you have an early flight, your driver will pick you up after you've enjoyed breakfast at your accommodation in Reykjavik. They'll drive you to Keflavik International Airport in plenty of time for your flight home.

Check in for your flight, drop off your baggage, and then head through to departures. Look around the shops or enjoy a meal or drink in one of the terminal bars while waiting for your flight to board.

On your way back to the airport, you can add a trip to the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa if you didn't have time to visit on day one. Located in a lava field on the Reykjanes Peninsula, it boasts striking azure-blue mineral-rich waters heated by underground geothermal activity.

If you have a later flight, you can spend the day exploring more of Reykjavik. Stroll through Laugavegur shopping street and pick up some last-minute souvenirs, browse boutiques, and sample local cuisine at charming cafes. Don't miss the Harpa Concert Hall's striking architecture and the nearby Sun Voyager sculpture. For a final dose of nature before your flight, visit the Tjornin Pond, a picturesque city pond.

We hope you enjoyed your private tour of Iceland. Come back soon!
