Description

Discover two exciting activities in a single day on this meet-on-location kayaking and ATV combination tour. Adventurous travelers keen to explore the South Coast’s extraordinary scenery while enjoying active excursions should book this tour now.

Your day begins with a mesmerizing paddle through the Solheimajokull glacier lagoon on Iceland’s South Coast.

You will meet your guide next to the Solheimajokull parking lot, the trip’s starting point. It’s approximately 101 miles (164 kilometers) from Reykjavik.

After greeting your guide, you’ll walk about five minutes to the lagoon, where you’ll receive the necessary equipment for the excursion. Your guide will then provide instructions on using your stable, sit-on-top kayak to prepare you for the adventure ahead.

Then, it’s time to enjoy gliding across the lagoon’s tranquil waters. Special skills are not required, and you can paddle at your own pace, making this activity suitable for anyone 12 or older.

Your expert guide will lead you on a one-hour tour around the beautiful lagoon dotted with icebergs. Marvel at the fascinating colors and formations as you immerse yourself in your breathtaking surroundings.

Meltwater from Solheimajokull, an outlet glacier of the mighty Myrdalsjokull ice cap, creates the lagoon. The lagoon’s environment is ever-changing, with rising temperatures gradually increasing its size.

From your kayak, you will get an excellent view of the glacier tongue, a vista inaccessible to those traveling on foot.

After your memorable kayaking excursion, you will say farewell to your kayaking guide and the glacier lagoon.

Then, you’ll drive to the operator’s Myrdalsjokull base camp, the starting point for the afternoon’s ATV adventure. It’s approximately 5.6 miles (9 kilometers) away and takes about 10 minutes to reach.

When you arrive, you’ll greet your professional ATV guide. They will give you a safety briefing and the necessary equipment before leading you on a two-hour ATV ride across a spectacular black sand beach.

Two people ride on each ATV, and those who operate the vehicle must have a valid driver’s license. Your helmet and insulated overalls will help keep you safe and cozy.

Whether driving or riding as a passenger, you’ll enjoy a thrilling experience zooming along the stunning coastline. Marvel at the jet-black sands and the waves tumbling into shore, a magnificent place to immerse yourself in Icland’s unbeatable natural environment.

During your tour, you will stop at the DC-3 plane wreck. The aircraft crashed in 1973 and has lain on the shore at Solheimasandur ever since. The site offers a brilliant photo opportunity, with the plane providing a dramatic contrast against its stark surroundings.

After an unforgettable ride, you’ll finish at the Myrdalsjokull base camp, where the tour ends.

Don’t miss this incredible 7.5-hour combination tour kayaking in an enchanting glacier lagoon and whizzing across a black sand beach on an ATV. Check availability now by choosing a date.
