Description

Join us on this exciting ATV/Quad bike adventure down to the DC3 Plane Wreck! Those looking for a way to spice up their South Coast trip should grab this opportunity now.

Your adventure begins at our main base near Mýrdalsjökull glacier where you will meet your experienced and qualified ATV guide. At the base, you will get all the necessary gear, such as an insulated cover-all, helmet and balaclava face mask.

Your guide then gives you a short safety briefing. When you are all geared up and ready, your guide will lead you across rivers and down to the black sand beach of Sólheimasandur on our powerful all-terrain vehicles.

You will drive down to the ocean and along the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean, witnessing the amazing contrasts of Mýrdalsjökull glacier on one side and the black sand beach of the south shore on the other. In the distance, you will see the southernmost tip of Iceland, Dyrhólaey peninsula.

Next stop on the journey is the famous DC3 Plane wreck, resting on its stomach in the sand since 1973. The United States Navy plane ran out of fuel and crashed on the beach. Thankfully, everyone survived. Seeing the plane wreck in the sand is truly impressive and a great setting for a truly memorable photo from your stay in Iceland. Make sure to bring your camera!

After exploring the plane wreck, you will hop back on your ATV and drive from the beach along the river Jökulsá and up to the roots of the mountain, then follow the tracks back to the base.

Come along on a thrilling ride. Do not miss out on this adventurous tour to the black sand beach and the DC3 Plane wreck. Check availability by choosing a date.
