ATV Tour to the Plane Wreck on the South Coast from Myrdalsjokull Glacier

Ride an ATV across rivers and black sand to the DC3 Plane Wreck on Solheimasandur Beach on this tour from the base at Myrdalsjokull Glacier on Iceland's South Coast.

The tour begins at the base by Myrdalsjokull Glacier, where you meet your experienced, qualified ATV guide. You get all the gear you need, followed by a short safety briefing.

Then your guide leads the group across rivers and down to the black sand beach. You ride along the coast with views of the sea arch at Dyrholaey Peninsula and Myrdalsjokull Glacier in the distance.

After leaving the beach, you ride to the famous DC3 Plane Wreck, which has rested in the sand since 1973. The United States Navy plane ran out of fuel and crash-landed on the beach, and everyone on board survived.

From the plane wreck, you drive to the Jokulsa River and up to the foot of the mountain, then follow the tracks back to the base.
