Express 1-Hour ATV Tour to the DC3 Plane Wreck on Iceland's South Coast

Ride an ATV across the black sand of Solheimasandur Beach to the DC3 Plane Wreck on this family-friendly tour on Iceland's South Coast.

The tour begins at the base at the foot of Myrdalsjokull Glacier, where your experienced, qualified guide gives you an insulated coverall, a helmet, and a balaclava face mask, plus boots if you need them. After a short safety briefing, you climb on your ATV and set off.

Your guide leads the group across small rivers to Solheimasandur Beach. You ride down the coastline on the black sand, with views of the ocean.

Along the way, you can see the sea arch at Dyrholaey Peninsula and Myrdalsjokull Glacier, with Katla Volcano beneath it.

Next is the famous DC3 Plane Wreck. In 1973, the United States Navy plane ran out of fuel and crash-landed on the beach, and everyone on board survived. The silver plane in the black sand makes a striking photo.
