Enjoy a thrilling, two-hour buggy ride up and down the mountains just outside Reykjavík with this excellent tour. This excursion should not be missed by any who are seeking adrenaline-pumping adventure and the chance to see beautiful landscapes, without sacrificing a full day.

The tour begins at the buggy basecamp, just fifteen minutes drive from the centre of Iceland’s capital. Here, you will meet with friendly, experienced guides, who’ll talk to you about the adventure ahead and how to operate your vehicle. If you want to take to the wheel of your buggy, you will need a full driver’s license, but no such prerequisite exists for passengers.

With the briefing complete, you will board your all-terrain vehicle, and set off into the beautiful nature outside Reykjavík.

Your trail will first take you around the serene lake Hafravatn, which has a wealth of birdlife throughout summer, before starting the bumpy ascent up its adjacent mountain, Hafrafell. This exhilarating first leg is complete when you reach the summit.

You’ll stop here to enjoy the view, take some photos, and switch drivers if you wish. The landscapes surrounding you are beyond beautiful; if the weather is clear, you’ll be able to admire the capital, as well as Faxaflói bay, the flat-topped mountain Esjan and the dramatic peninsulas of Snæfellsnes and Reykjanes.

With these views taken in, you’ll hop back into the buggy and take the thrilling descent down the mountain. The journey is not quite complete here, however; you will then ascend a second peak, the mighty Úlfarsfell, for a new perspective on the same views.

After two hours of exploration, you will return to the base camp, no doubt out of breath with adrenaline, and with a camera full of photos. From here, you are welcome to enjoy the rest of your day in Iceland, be it in the capital or further afield.

Don’t miss this unforgettable journey up two beautiful mountains, to make the most of Iceland’s adventure and nature opportunities. Check availability by choosing a date.
