See the Golden Circle and drive off-road to the Langjokull Glacier area on this Super Jeep tour from Reykjavik.
You meet your guide and the other guests and set off in the Super Jeep.
The first stop is Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where Iceland's parliament was founded more than 1,000 years ago. Here, you can see how the earth is slowly pulling apart along the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, walk between the continents, and stand where the Viking settlers once gathered to pass the nation's laws.
Next, you visit the Geysir Geothermal Area in Haukadalur Valley, with geysers, hot springs, steam vents, and blue algae. The area is named after Great Geysir, the hot spring that gave its name to geysers around the world. Strokkur Geyser, one of the largest and most powerful geysers, erupts every 4 to 16 minutes.
The last stop on the Golden Circle is Gullfoss Waterfall, which plunges dramatically into a deep gorge.
After a lunch break at the Gullfoss cafe, you head off-road into the highlands and the rough terrain around Langjokull Glacier, whose name means "long glacier." It's the second-largest ice cap in Iceland, covering about 323 square miles (836 square kilometers). Along the way, you stop now and then to take in the landscape.
After the off-road drive, you visit Faxi Waterfall, a small waterfall, before driving back to your accommodation in Reykjavik.
