See the Golden Circle and drive off-road to the Langjokull Glacier area on this private tour from Reykjavik in a super jeep or a monster truck.
Your guide picks you up at your accommodation in Reykjavik at a time of your choice. You can travel in a super jeep or upgrade to a six-door Ford Excursion monster truck.
The order of the stops may be reversed to avoid the crowds.
Your first stop is Thingvellir National Park, where the Icelandic parliament was founded more than 1,000 years ago. You see how the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates slowly pull apart, and you can stand where the Viking settlers made the country's laws.
Next, you visit the Geysir Geothermal Area in Haukadalur, with geysers, hot springs, steam vents, and blue algae. Strokkur Geyser, one of the largest and most powerful geysers, erupts every 4 to 16 minutes.
The last Golden Circle stop is Gullfoss Waterfall, which many consider the queen of Icelandic waterfalls, plunging into a deep gorge. You then stop for lunch at the cafe at Gullfoss Waterfall.
After lunch, you head off-road into the Highlands, over rough terrain to the area around Langjokull Glacier, the second-largest ice cap in Iceland at 323 square miles (836 square kilometers). You enjoy the landscape from your vehicle and stop now and then at the sights along the way.
After the off-road drive, you stop at Faxi Waterfall, a small waterfall, before driving back to Reykjavik.
You can add snowmobiling on Langjokull Glacier, weather permitting, a visit to the Secret Lagoon in the village of Fludir, or a helicopter flight back to Reykjavik from the Langjokull Glacier area or Gullfoss Waterfall, all at your own expense. Each helicopter takes up to 5 people.
