Designed for passionate anglers and outdoor enthusiasts, this 12-hour experience offers access to some of the country’s best fishing spots, complete with expert guidance, permits, gear, and transportation.
Your day begins early, with convenient pick-up available from Akureyri, Husavik, or the Lake Myvatn area. A professional fishing guide will meet you at your accommodation at your chosen time in the morning or afternoon and then drive you to the selected river or lake.
The destination varies depending on seasonal conditions and the best fishing opportunities for that day. With a local expert by your side, you'll receive insider tips, support with techniques, and knowledge about Iceland’s freshwater ecosystems.
Iceland’s freshwater systems are remote, diverse, and often challenging to navigate for first-time visitors. Your guide not only ensures access to the best fishing locations based on current conditions, but also offers assistance with gear setup, casting techniques, and species-specific strategies.
North Iceland is home to a variety of freshwater fish that thrive in cold, clean rivers and lakes. During the tour, you may have the chance to catch Arctic char, known for their beautiful coloring, or brown trout, prized by anglers for both size and strength.
In certain rivers, Atlantic salmon may also be present, especially during the peak fishing season. Each species offers a unique challenge and reward, making for a dynamic and engaging day on the water.
The tour includes all the essentials for a seamless experience, including transportation, fishing permits, and access to high-quality fishing equipment. Whether you're a seasoned angler or eager to learn, the guide will ensure you’re well-prepared for a rewarding day on the water.
Some rivers include a mandatory midday break (usually between 13:00 and 15:00 or 16:00), possibly extending the whole experience up to 15 hours. There will be plenty of breaks during the trip, so you can find time to rest in between.
This tour is ideal for small groups, with a minimum of two participants per trip. Solo anglers can still join by covering the minimum fee.
Please note that lunch is not included, so bringing your own meal or snacks is recommended. To comply with local regulations, all fishing equipment brought into Iceland must be disinfected upon arrival at the airport.
At the end of your trip, you will be dropped off at your chosen location in Akureyri, Husavik, or the Myvatn area.
