Description

Explore the ancient wonders of the Langjokull glacier by booking a thrilling five-hour snowmobiling tour from the Gullfoss waterfall. This tour is a perfect adventure for small groups looking to explore the scenic Highlands of Iceland free of human distractions.

Your adventure begins at the Gullfoss cafe near the Gullfoss waterfall, one of the three famous locations that comprise Iceland’s Golden Circle route. You will also meet your experienced tour guide here.

Remember that your tour guide is your primary source of information during your trip, and you can talk to them if you have questions and concerns at any time during the tour.

After ensuring everything’s ready, you and your crew will start the tour by traveling across the Highlands to the Langjokull glacier by a super jeep or truck.

Upon reaching the Langjokull glacier, your tour guide will give you more details about your snowmobiling tour, operating the snowmobile, and how to stay safe while riding. The guide will also share with you some interesting facts about the region and a brief on its history.

Each tour joiner will be provided with a Yamaha Viper snowmobile, which is perfect for different types of ice terrain. The tour does not require you to have a previous snowmobiling experience. However, you must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license to operate the snowmobile.

Your guide will lead your small group through the best paths atop the mighty glacier. Thus, feel free to drive at your own pace and fully take in your surroundings, including the crevasses, moulins, and snow-covered mountains. You will also have plenty of opportunities to photograph the best landscapes of Langjokull glacier.

When the snowmobile drive concludes, your guide will drive you back to the base camp at Gullfoss waterfall. At the cafe near the waterfall, you may acquire some refreshments while taking a rest before visiting other attractions found in the Golden Circle. Otherwise, you can drive back to your hotel and take a rest before embarking on another adventure.

The whole trip will take around four to five hours, while the snowmobiling part of the tour will take around one hour.

Langjokull glacier, despite all its uniqueness, is a difficult place to access. Fortunately, daring souls eager to touch this frozen part of Iceland can find a way through this fast-paced snowmobiling adventure.
