Hike to Graenihryggur, the "Green Ridge," in the Landmannalaugar area of the Icelandic Highlands on this challenging guided day trip by bus from Reykjavik.
The bus takes you from Reykjavik to the trailhead at Halldorsgil. Your English-speaking mountain guide leads the group from here.
The route runs through Fjallabak Nature Reserve, an untouched wilderness of ridges, canyons, and glaciers. Landmannalaugar is one of the most colorful areas in Iceland, known for its rhyolite mountains and green moss.
Along the way, you pass through Sveinsgil Ravine.
The final destination is Graenihryggur, a ridge so bright green that it looks almost unnatural in the middle of the Highlands. Hikes to the Green Ridge have become increasingly popular in recent years.
After the hike, you ride the bus back to the city.
