Relaxing 2-Hour Kayaking Tour in Eastfjords from Djupivogur
Description
Summary
Description
Enjoy a relaxing kayak tour in East Iceland with a stunning view of the Bulandstindur mountain and a chance to meet the unique local wildlife. This two-hour experience in the Berufjordur fjord is the perfect midday activity for travelers exploring the Icelandic Eastfjords.
At the mouth of the fjord, where it meets the sea, you will find the small coastal village of Djupivogur. This quiet town is where you'll begin your journey, and if you're traveling along the Ring Road from the north, you'll have an excellent view of Berufjordur during your drive, giving you a taste of what's to come.
You'll meet with a guide at the site of Eggin di Gledivik, also known as 'The Eggs of Merry Bay,' which are egg sculptures that sit along the coast of the fjord. These sculptures are larger-than-life replicas of the eggs of 34 species of birds that nest in the area.
At the meeting point, you'll prepare yourself for the kayak ride. The guide will assist you with proper safety gear, kayaking equipment, and basic instructions before you take to the waters and start your voyage.
Once you're ready, you'll take the kayak into the Berufjordur fjord and ride along the calm waters inward. The fjord is 12 miles (20 kilometers) long, flanked by beautiful mountains and cliffs that give you picturesque views no matter where you turn.
You don't need experience kayaking to do this tour, just a reasonable fitness level and an eagerness to enjoy East Iceland's beautiful nature.
The most majestic view you'll get is of the Bulandstindur mountain west of the fjord. It has a distinctive pyramid shape formed by millions of years worth of basalt layers, making it one of Iceland's most recognizable and unique mountains.
As you continue along the fjord, you may be lucky enough to meet some of the wildlife that calls Berufjordur home. Seals, jellyfish, and dolphins swim in the waters year-round, and in the summer months, you can see a wide variety of migratory birds and even humpback whales.
Once you finish exploring the waters, your guide will take you back to the village to conclude your adventure. After returning your gear and saying farewell, you're free to explore the rest of the Eastfjords or hop back on the Ring Road to continue your travels.
Don't miss out on taking this magical expedition along one of Iceland's most beautiful fjords and treating yourself to lovely views and astonishing wildlife for a truly unforgettable experience. Check availability now by choosing a date.
