Kayak in Berufjordur Fjord in the Eastfjords on this easy guided tour from Djupivogur, with views of Bulandstindur Mountain and a chance to see seals, birds, and even whales.
The tour starts at Eggin i Gledivik, a row of large egg sculptures on the shore in the village of Djupivogur. The sculptures are replicas of the eggs of 34 bird species that nest in the area.
Your guide gets you geared up and gives you basic instructions before you head out on the water. You can paddle a single or a double kayak.
You paddle in Berufjordur, a fjord about 12 miles (20 kilometers) long with mountains on both sides. Bulandstindur Mountain, known for its pyramid shape, rises above the fjord.
The fjord is home to seals, jellyfish, and many species of birds, including puffins. With some luck, you may kayak among humpback whales, orcas, or harbor porpoises, which are spotted here almost every year.
After your paddle, you return your gear at the meeting point, and you're free to continue your trip along the Ring Road.
