Day 1 - Reykjavik – Landmannalaugar
This 2-day tour departs from Reykjavik in the morning, heading out along the gorgeous South Coast on the journey to the Landmannalaugar, a beautiful region in the Icelandic Highlands.
When you reach the mountain base, your expert snowmobile guide will give you a safety briefing, provide your gear (i.e. helmets, overalls, etc.) and a rundown on the snowmobile itself before heading out on to explore this frost-laden paradise.
After a few hours of riding, you'll head to the mountain hut in Hrafntinnusker. This hut was built in 1977 at 1027 meters above sea level and boasts geothermal heating the whole year round, ensuring a nice and cosy wilderness shelter. The hut is named after Obsidian, a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed as an extrusive igneous rock.
In the hut, your guide will cook a traditional mountain BBQ before sending you off to rest for the next snowmobiling day.
Day 2 - Landmannalaugar – Reykjavik
After a good night’s rest and a delicious breakfast, your expert snowmobile guide will lay out the plan for your second day in the Highlands of Iceland. Today, it's Fjallabak Nature Reserve.
Fjallabak Nature Reserve was established in 1979. It covers 47.000 hectares, is over 500 meters above sea level and is a landscape of mountains, rhyolitic stratovolcanoes, dried volcanic plains and sweeping canyons. Plenty to discover on your second day!
After this nice day of snowmobiling, you will start to head on towards our pick-up vehicle, which will drive you back to your accommodation Reykjavík.
