Description

Drive a snowmobile across the surface of Iceland’s second-largest glacier, Langjökull and venturing down the largest man-made ice tunnel in the world! It is one of the greatest things you can do in Iceland. On the way, we will visit some of the Borgarfjörður region's most spectacular waterfalls. Those wanting a unique holiday in Iceland should book this sightseeing and adventure tour now.

Your day's adventure will begin with a pick up by your private driver from either your accommodation in Reykjavík city or Keflavík airport in a Mercedes Benz V-class. From there, you'll be driven to Húsafell where you will be transported in a modified glacier vehicle on to Langjökull.

What lies under the surface of the Langjökull glacier has been unknown. In 2010, a couple of Icelanders made it possible for people to go inside the glacier ice cap so they could see the blue ice which rests deep inside the glacier.

You’ll first get to ride a snowmobile before going exploring the man-made tunnel into the blue heart of Langjökull for a one-of-a-kind experience.

Anyone 18 years or older with a driver’s license can operate the snowmobile. An experienced guide will lead the tour and teach you the basics of operating a snowmobile.

You'll follow the guide through the ice-tunnels, witnessing the ever-changing environment of glaciers. You'll see countless rooms and halls built inside the glacier, including the 'chapel' where festivities have been held.

On the way to the glacier, we will make a stop at Barnafossar and Hraunfossar waterfalls. This cascade is an exceptionally beautiful and unusual natural pearl. The Hraunfossar waterfall looks like it magically appears from within the lava. The waterfall streams out of Hallmundarhraun which an ancient lava field is.

From Hraunfossar we will hike to another nearby natural pearl, Barnafossar waterfall which rushes violently through a dramatic canyon.

On the way back we will stop look at Krauma the geothermal baths and Deildatunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring.

If people want it is possible to bathe in the geothermal baths at Krauma. The price for adults is 4,500 isk per person and needs to be booked in advance
