Description

Enjoy an adrenaline rush as you discover the beauty of Thakgil Canyon on this fantastic buggy tour. This hidden gem of South Iceland is a perfect destination for travelers who want to visit mountain caves, black beaches, glaciers, and rivers while driving an outdoor buggy.

You'll start the tour by checking in at the tour operator's Adventure Center, which is in the town of Vik. Here, you'll meet your expert local guide and will receive a thorough safety debriefing and instructions about how to drive your buggy.

A buggy tour is a brilliant way to experience the beauty of the great outdoors while enjoying the thrill of a fast-paced adventure. Thakgil Canyon provides both fun and beautiful scenery, with rough terrain to cross and gorgeous sights to see.

Buggies are a fun and safe way to explore Iceland's varied terrain, but you need a valid driver's license to drive one. Make sure that each member of your party who wants to drive a buggy has their license with them.

The tour is suitable for children aged six and above sharing a buggy with an adult. Each can seat two people, so you can book a shared ride if you're traveling with children or participants without a license — or if you'd rather buddy up. If you'd prefer a buggy all to yourself, book a single ride instead.

Once you've checked in and have received your safety training, you'll be given some overalls and a helmet to wear during the tour. When you're dressed, you'll be ready to get out in the open air to explore this beautiful part of South Iceland.

First, your guide will lead your group through a private and secluded area of a black-sand beach. Here, you'll see the incredible volcanic sediment that forms the jet-black sand.

Next, you'll drive up the mountain pass to Thakgil Canyon. The area has magnificent views of the Myrdalsjokull glacier. You'll also visit mountain caves, winding rivers, and beautiful waterfalls.

Your guide will tell you about the area around Vik, its folklore, and its history as you drive through these breathtaking trails.

They'll also guide you through any more challenging sections of the terrain — the route passes over a few rivers, but this is a great way to put your buggy-driving skills to the test!

The tour takes place in small groups, with a maximum group size of eight people. Therefore, your guide will always be available to answer any questions and take you through the route safely and securely. They will also be able to take photos of you and your friends on the excursion, so you'll have a great souvenir to take home with you.

Book your place on this incredible adrenaline-packed adventure tour and experience the beauty of South Iceland's Thakgil Canyon first-hand. Check availability now by choosing a date.
