Women-Focused 3-Day Thorsmork Hiking Tour with Meals and Mountain Huts

Start your morning at the Basar hut with a hearty breakfast and a short stretching session to prepare for an inspiring day. On day two of your multi-day hiking in Thorsmork, your group will focus on the Tindfjallahringur trail.

With lunch and snacks packed in your daypack, it's time to lace up your hiking boots and take on one of Thorsmork's most celebrated trails.

The Tindfjallahringur, or "Circle of Tindfjoll Mountains," is a mountainous loop that weaves through some of Iceland's most dramatic landscapes.

Through this trail, you'll climb to an elevation of 1,640 feet (500 meters), stretching for 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) Though the path includes some steeper sections and technical terrain, the effort is rewarded with stunning vistas of snow-capped peaks, deep valleys, and the ever-changing hues of Thorsmork's vibrant vegetation.

As you hike, your guide will share stories about the landscape, its volcanic origins, and the resilience of Icelandic women throughout history. The supportive environment of this women-led tour makes every step feel purposeful, whether tackling a challenging section or sharing laughter over a snack break.

Along the way, take moments to pause and soak in the peaceful surroundings, from the sound of glacial rivers to the sweeping views of distant mountain ridges. Thorsmork and the Highlands region are remote, so there will be fewer crowds to encounter here.

After five to six hours on the trail, you'll return to the Basar mountain hut, where a well-earned dinner awaits. While preparing and enjoying your meal, feel free to share stories of the day with your fellow hikers.

Since this adventure takes place during summer, between June and early September, you may also enjoy the beauty of the midnight sun. The sun doesn't fully set on the horizon during this time, so there will be extended daylight hours.

Begin your final morning in the Thorsmork Nature Reserve with a tasty breakfast at Basar. Then, like the previous day, don’t forget to do some stretching and basic exercises to help energize you for a memorable farewell hike.

With the highland bus scheduled to depart in the afternoon at 15:00, there’s still time to immerse yourself in the enchanting landscapes of this Icelandic paradise.

Today’s hike takes you up the nearby Rettarfell mountain, a modest but rewarding trail that offers one last opportunity to connect with Thorsmork’s beauty.

At an elevation reaching 850 feet (260 meters), this hike is accessible yet rich in breathtaking views. The 2.5 mile (4-kilometer) trail winds through mossy slopes and rugged terrain that will lead to panoramic vistas of the surrounding valleys, glaciers, and peaks.

From the summit, you can enjoy contrasting views of Thorsmork’s vibrant greens against the icy expanse of the Eyjafjallajokull, Myrdalsjokull, and Tindfjallajokull glaciers.

At 15:00, the group will board the highland bus back to Reykjavik, taking one last look at Thorsmork’s majestic landscapes as they fade into the distance. The scenic drive back is the perfect time to reflect on the memories made, the bonds formed, and the wild beauty of Iceland that has left an indelible mark.
