Katla Ice Cave should definitely be in the list of the top 3 things to see in Iceland. The naturally formed caves are simply awesome. We booked through Guide to Iceland and they worked with Katlatrack to get us an unforgettable tour! We were lucky to see 1 ice cave and 1 soon to be formed ice cave. Overall a great experience. The tour followed by a nice black crust pizza was perfect. Don't forget to claim your discount in the restaurant after you have done the tour with them!

Amazing tour in the heart of Katla glacier! Our guide Gudjon was so knowledgeable and gave us a great overview of this "striped" glacier where volcanic sand intermingles with ancient ice to form gorgeous patterns. He also shared Icelandic music (and not-Icelandic music) during the trip to get to the glacier. Once close to the glacier we were guided on how to walk safely and shown the incredible landscape which resembled the lunar surface in some places. The ice cave itself was an easy hike to reach and it was mind blowing, so beautiful it is! Gudjon explained to us how precarious and delicate this ecosystem is, and how the glacier is melting fast. Excellent experience overall, just make sure you wear your hiking boots, and you go to the bathroom right before hopping in the little bus.
