Jump on this amazing tour that combines lava tubing in the country’s longest cave and an exploration of the ice tunnels of Langjökull glacier. This tour is for anyone with a sense of adventure, and who wishes to witness the marvels of Iceland's nature from a unique perspective.

Your tour starts at Reykjavík Terminal where you will meet up with your guide or with a hotel pick up if you have chosen to be picked up from your accommodation.  From Reykjavík terminal we head to Langjökull glacier, the second largest glacier in Iceland. Once at its foot, you will switch to a specially modified vehicle, which is perfectly designed for ascending the icy slopes and enjoy the beautiful views unfolding around you as you head to the tunnels.

Unlike ice caves, which form naturally in winter, the ice tunnels were created by hand and machine, and are open throughout the year. Nowhere else in the world is it possible to enter an ice-cap like this.

Your expert guide will take you through the wide halls and chambers here, including an ice cathedral that is a popular spot for weddings and other events, and tell you all about the glaciers as you go. The colours and scale of your surroundings are sure to mesmerize you.

Following this fascinating experience, you'll return to the super-jeep and descend from the ice cap. After stopping for lunch at Hotel Húsafell, it is time for the second component of this tour: lava caving in Víðgelmir.

Víðgelmir is one of the largest lava caves in the world, formed in the 10th century from an eruption that started under Langjökull. Your guide will bring your attention to the many spectacular features of the cave, from the magnificent colours, unusual textures, and the stalagmites and stalactites. This caving experience is unique in that Víðgelmir is wide open throughout, and there is a newly-constructed walkway and lighting, making traversing it as comfortable as possible.

Don't miss this chance to see some of the most fascinating sites in Iceland. Check availability by choosing a date.

Good to know:

The weather changes quickly in Iceland, so don't be caught unawares. It is always better to bring a sweater or dress in layers which you can remove if you are too warm. (Jeans are not recommended because denim, once wet, will spread moisture and take a long time to dry, leaving the wearer extremely cold!)

Guide , itinerary and weather was good. Only disappointment is the packed lunch which is recommended during booking of tour. It’s hardly anything close to the buffet lunch at the restaurant which is just ISK800 more than the packed lunch. The food are just some simple snacks.
