Iceland’s maritime story
Last weekend I spent some time at the Maritime Museum in Reykjavík, and it turned out to be such an interesting way to learn about a side of Iceland that you don’t always see when travelling here 🇮🇸⚓️ When you think about Iceland, it’s easy to picture waterfalls, glaciers, volcanoes and dramatic landscapes. But the sea is just as important to the story of this country. For centuries, Icelanders have depended on the ocean for food, work and trade, and fishing has played a huge role in shaping Icelandic communities and its economy. The museum does a great job of bringing that history to life
